Name: Aireaz
Age: 28
Race: Wood elf
Nation of Origin: The Skyfell Elves
OOC Alias: Aireaz
Appearance
Aireaz is a tall, slender elf. She has dark hair and dark eyes. She carries her staff always, as it is his most prized posession. She also wears a jeweled dagger in her belt.
Role
Aireaz is a natural aquamancer. She began developing her skills with other forms of elemental magic when she became a student of the black mage, Elric. He fashioned her a staff to use to focus her energies and began teaching her to manipulate other elements. She can manipulate water and ice without the aid of her staff but it is less controlled and weaker than when she has a focus.
She has been a thief for much of her life and this is still her default method of thinking. She learned hunting and gathering by watching animals and spying on travelers in the mountains.
She trained in combat from a soldier who was attacked while traveling through the mountains. She saved him and in return he spent several months teaching her how to defend herself with the dagger that she stole from his attackers.
Personality
Aireaz spent most of her life alone, exiled from her people. This solitude led her to develop a keen survival instinct and a distrust of people. She does not have many of the same ideas of right and wrong that come from living in an established society. She is drawn to outcasts of society and loaners, empathizing with those that she sees as similarly wronged. She has developed very few friends, but she is fiercely loyal to those who have proven themselves to her.
She had to steal in order to survive and it quickly became a way life. She never considered it to be right or wrong, simply necessary. She does not have the sense of morality that comes from growing up in a society, she simply makes decisions based on her needs. She will defend herself and her friends if she must, but she has no problem running away from a fight if she can.
She left the mountains to find food during a particularly difficult winter and found herself indebted to Elric after he saved her, fulfilling this debt exposed her to the larger world that she had ignored and made her curious to see the rest of it. She left the mountains with no plan to ever return to her old home.
History
Aireaz was born to the wood elves in the Skyfell mountains. The first few years of her life were uneventful, until her magic began to manifest. At the age of six the leaders of her clan took her and left her in the wild to die of exposure. She found shelter in a cave behind a waterfall and ate the plants that she watched the local wildlife eat. As she grew she began to steal from the miners that traveled through the mountain range. Her first friend was a soldier named Morth. He had hired guides to take him to his brother in the mountains and as Aireaz followed them with the intent of taking whatever valuables they had, she realized that the guides were going to kill Morth. She saved him and agreed to take him to his brother for a fee, whatever was inside the murderers packs. She found a dagger and a relic of her people that had great power.
Morth taught her to use he dagger and his brother taught her to read, she stayed with them for awhile but the idea of buying herself back into the family would not allow to her stay. She traveled to the elves and offered to give them the EnStone, a gem which brought wealth and prosperity to it’s owners. All she asked in return was the ability to return to her childhood home. They took the stone from her and cast her out again, ashamed she returned to her cave.
Some years later she was caught stealing on the outskirts of Brance and imprisoned. She was rescued by the black mage, Elric and promised to travel with him to repay her debt. He offered to become her teacher and she accepted his offer. They traveled together, and Aireaz found that Elric was searching for the EnStone to save a group of elves that also had magic. Overwhelmed by the idea of meeting others like her, and eager to impress to her teacher she told Elric that she knew how to find the stone. They travelled to the mountains in an attempt to retrieve it but fond that it had already been taken. They battled a powerful elemental and many of the elves died. In the battle, Aireaz accidentally killed her brother and the guilt of that was too much to bear. She and Elric summoned a phoenix and defeated it, raising the dead elves, but losing any chance of getting to the stone. Aireaz left the mountains, knowing that she could never return. She traveled to Espladar with Elric, but soon after arriving Elric became withdrawn and obsessed with Brance.
Aireaz left Espladar and traveled to the Sandspire, she wanted to see all of Agia. She spent the next year travelling until she heard about the death of Elric. She started to research the Underworld and looked for a way to get there. She became obsessed with the idea of rescuing her teacher. She felt responsible for leaving him when she knew that he had needed help.

She could see that Elric was quite serious about teaching her, and she knew that all of the practice she had done with her water magic at home was trial and error. Aireaz had always wondered if there was more that she could do, but she had never had anyone to ask before. She had never considered the idea that someone would teach her. She wondered was in it for Elric, but this was far too good to pass up. When he said that it was easy, she knew that Elric must be very powerful. She was almost too embarrassed to try a spell in front of him, but if he was to teach her she knew she had to try.
She went to catch some fish for dinner and hoped that Elric couldn’t see her blush. She returned a while later to find him holding a staff, shorter than the one he usually used. He gave it to her and nodded, she thought he was saying something but she heard nothing. She was too overwhelmed.
Aireaz had stolen many things in her life, but she could not remember anyone ever giving her anything. Certainly nothing as powerful or important as this. He handed it over as though he were passing her a log to put on the fire. "Thank you, how does such a thing work? I have heard of using something to help focus, is that how this works?"
She was eager to begin her lesson, but unsure if Elric would be so eager to teach. They had been traveling all day, but it was an uneventful ride and she was not tired
